Food for the Harvest

During the harvest we get very, very hungry! Working long hours, outdoors we need comfort food and LOTS of it!

Jill is an exceptional cook, so we thought it would be fun to share some photos of her creations and a recipe or two. Often, before the harvest is in full swing, she will do a cooking day, preparing food for our freezer and for Mum's freezer too, of course. The last thing we want to do is worry about what we are going to eat when we come in from the poly house. This week we made 6 loaves of wheaten bread, two stroganoffs, a huge batch of champ and 3 tuna, mac and cheese casseroles.

In the following weeks we will share a few recipes with you. The first is a partial recipe, Jill loves peppers, so we prepare them and store them in the fridge. She puts them on everything. Click here for the recipe. We will show you the best way to eat them soon.

When our friend "The Egg Man" gave us eggs from his chickens Jill cooked up a storm, it was a quiche frenzy!

Jill's talent in the kitchen is never more apparent than when she whips up one of her delicious stir fries. Fresh veg from the garden, garlic, herbs and her secret ingredient (which she uses in almost everything) No Frills curry powder.
