The Willow Beds

We have chosen a spot to plant our weaving willows. It's a nice flat area at the bottom of a hill. The soil is rich and it should get a good amount of moisture. There where some 4-5' spruce trees in this area so yesterday we dug them out and transplanted them to the east side of the field, beyond the planting area.

It was a good days work for a couple of farm girls!

A perfect tree, about the maximum size we were able to move by hand.

Jill cuts down the grass before we dig the holes and plant the trees. Once planted we watered them down and covered them with manure.
